The last month of the service year and a special campaign! Need I say more about how husy we are? We are meeting now at a different KH as ours has been under repair and we thought it would be done by this time. However when the brothers went in to start repairs they found major structural damage. The pillars have cracks in them so it could be very dangerous. We may not be returning to that hall. On the plus side....the KH we are meeting at is the newest and nicest in Lisbon. It is a double hall with parking underneath so the brothers with cars are happy. It is a longer bus ride so we have to leave earlier.
Reuben and Marieka left last Thurs for the international convention in Maryland so Claudia and I have the house to ourselves until we leave in Oct. After convention they will go to Ashland (Oregon) where she was raised and her family still lives. They work with a family business so they can combine business and pleasure.
We have some new need greaters from Italy. They have moved into our building and we have been enjoying their company. Gioia (Italian for Joy) went in the ministry together on Sunday and then they fixed lunch for us. I think none are over 20 yrs old. There are also 2 fleshly sisters with her, Emanuella and Elisabetta.
August in Lisbon it is said, will be a city with much fewer people. Everyone goes on vacation to get out of the city heat. Happily the temperature for July and so far for August has been lower than usual so I hope that continues.
Yesterday Andre and Akime took us by car to the Portugal Bethel. His uncle and aunt serve there (picture included) and they invited us to lunch. We had chicken and rice with a curry gravy AND WINE. Many of the european branches serve wine for lunch and dinner. I have included some shots of the bethel and a picture of myself with Pedro and Sylvia. He serves in the service dept at the branch and I came to know them because I gave a demo during his talk. They are the sweetest couple. Treated me as if we had been friends forever!
We had a beautiful day and stopped on the way home for gelatos.
I miss all of you and wish I was rich enough to live 6 months at home and 6 months here. Reuben and Marieka would love us to be permanent housemates. I couldn't stand to be away from the family that much time so they would have to come with me.
All in all another beautiful day in Portugal.
